I always imagined that Mercedes wounded up going into a drunken rampage after what happened to her. Her background story is so sad to me.

Also, is that the Arisen bond I see on her?

Seems it's a new game + Both Selene and Mercedes have the arisen bond not unless the Arisen forged it and he gave the 2 to both.

As for the food. Sour Abrosial Steak, Golden Egg, Cloud wine(white as cloud),small nuts, berry, twig bean and the "Avernal Mushroom" a poison mushroom that gives stamina, but poisons, you.

Selene knows she's gonna get poisoned that's why she has a herb ale ready.

^The Arisen's Bond is the ring you get thats part of a little side quest that the game really never alludes to. The ring I think puts someone into the highest affinity section (so the pink glow and blush) immediately. It's still possible to build affinity for them though, it's just a really big booster.

It's possible to get more then one ring in a single playthrough though. Selene will end up in your house regardless as long as you complete one of her quests but the artist here must have a thing for both of them.

Is she holding a Wakestone Shard? And why does she have her rapier? Doesn't she give it to the Arisen?

^She probably has a wakestone and not just a shard to revive the Arisen. As for the rapier it's on the Arisen's side and not with Mercedes. Lots details and story this one image holds indeed.
