"I love this guy's work, but I'll be damned if I pay to support him for the hours upon hours he puts into it."
A person may be passionate about their work, but they still have to eat. And art like this takes hours per picture if not days. They don't just crank out 15 of them a day.
Imagine if your manager at your job talked like you do...
"I love how you flip those burgers, but I'll be damned if I'm going to pay you anything to do it. I expect you to slave away over the hot stove for free all day. You're doing it because you're passionate about it anyways!"
