The cuckoo is there because Linkle is there. She fucking loves cuckoos. Also, yes, the seagull is Marin, but it makes even more sense that Aryll notices it. She's the only one seagulls will come near anyways.

The cuckoo MIGHT be someone from twilight princess, but you don't become a cuckoo, you just gain ten seconds of "possesing" it.
