I don't know if I haven't been paying attention for all these years I've been watching anime on how the way Japan dancing is these days but that is the weirdest dance I've ever seen in my life O_e WTF... but it's cute and weird at the same time... to me

I do think it's an mash up of different styles. Some moves like the stomping on the ground is typical for military parades in the west.
German Carnveal or marching of the Tambur Major.
The moment then she swings her arm like a pendelum in front of skirt and then over her head looks like french Cancan. Duck like hip swings flipping the long skirt and so on. I like it. Really good animated and cute as hell. In contrast our dancing in tv..... nearly the same as youporn....

^ This. I think It's pretty common for Japanese cheerleading. Kodomo no Jikan was full of it. post #1148424, post #605933.
