In most pictures the girls eyes are purple, so I would say it is the artists guess

The Ultra Megalopolis people have... really strange eyes. Their irises are light blue (same color as their skin), and their *pupils* match their hair color.

So yes, this is wrong, but it's okay because let's be real, their actual eyes are just plain weird.
