I like to think that Yang actually spared Tifa after bringing her to the edge of death and reminding her of the absolute and unconquerable gap between them before making her into her living sex toy. She then regularly holds her like this to show she could kill her any time, any place, and that she could literally do nothing about it.

It's shame that one stupid MMD fight turned Tifa into weak boobjoke, while being able to lift and smash monsters that weight several hundred tons against ground and Yang became new Goku, while being way more weaker than Tifa. All this crap just to promote new shitty volume of RWBY that time...
