I'm proud of South Korea. While so many other countries airburst rifles failed they looked at the U.S.'s XM29 OICW and said "we can make this work". And they made history as the K11 is the first multi-weapon of its type to be officially adopted by any military in the world. They might have even solved the issue of 20mm grenades not being lethal enough. The XM29's grenade rounds, the XM1018, were 20x28mm and had two warheads, one in the front and one in the back, but the center space was taken up by the electronic fuse it was a balancing act. When the U.S. tried the XM25 we made the rounds 25x40mm.

South Korea just made the rounds for their K11 a little bit longer, 20x30mm. If you need to make more room for better explosives but still want the round to be somewhat compact, why go fatter when you can go longer? Such a simple solution.

Sure you can just call them that and you technically wouldn't be wrong but these types of firearms have a bit more going for them, they have a computer scope that not only tells the grenade rounds when to explode in mid-air but also where multiple targets are, marking them with multiple reticles or even marking last known locations should they hide behind something to remind the shooter to keep an eye out in case one of the said targets might still be around and didn't run away.

They're honestly like something out of a sci-fi movie and even today computerized scopes on firearms is still pretty uncommon and relatively new despite being explored in the 90s and 2000s. The NGSW program even had two competing smart scopes. And with the advances of in science making quantum computers working at room temperature becoming a bit closer to reality with every breakthrough, I suspect these smart scopes will become the standard for firearms once we can get quantum computers to work in them.

P.S. sorry the TLDR, I just have a hard time saying stuff in few words.
