I can’t believe that there’s so much evidence, accounts and victims of the goblins’ cruelty and yet no one really thinks much of them. I mean do beginners going on their first quest know they tend to ambush and rape and shit? I guess the Sword Maiden had a point and a very real fear and the people who aren’t personally affected by it don’t really view it as their problem. It’s only when the problem is right outside your building or next door do you start to worry and take the threat seriously because it COULD happen to you.

I think the problem lies in the fact that there are much bigger threats that we don’t see since the series doesn’t focus on them. The destruction of the world is far more important to prevent than a village or two getting burned in the eyes of the people in the series’ world

But it’d be kinda crazy for there to be world threatening cataclysms everyday though. Goblins might not be a major problem now but if you leave them alone or don’t take them seriously, the problems they present will be able to grow and worsen into a larger one in the future. They’re capable of growth and numbers as well as organization, learning and strategy. They take food and women which limits the people’s numbers and resources and adds to theirs. And if the women somehow are lucky enough to survive and return from captivity, they might just be scarred and traumatized for the rest of their lives. I mean there’s a guy who dedicates all his time and energy into thinning their numbers and I don’t think he’s gonna be out of a job anytime soon because people don’t see them as an issue and if there are enough foolish adventurers or defenseless villages and towns it’s doubtful there will ever be a shortage of goblins.

Judging by how small those gobs are, I'm betting that's her children raping a new generation into her.

It's kind of like a more realistic look at a game like DnD. If there were really enough ongoing emergencies to justify every game played...that world would be constantly teetering on the brink of destruction. Goblins might be a constant threat, but so are all those giant spiders, necromancer armies, and whatever the hell else people come up with.

Ever heard of plot holes?
The author keeps hyping up their threat way too much while keeping them as the most ignored problem of the story, no way to justify that other than trying to ignore it if you enjoy the show.
