The one where Pan turned out to be half sayian and that due to Sayian gene dominance quarter-sayians don't exist. meanwhile two half sayians always make full blooded sayians. Since sayian physiology is geared towards survival, that includes reproduction. A single surviving Sayian can repopulate the species with no negative repercussions, all they need is a similar enough species to interbreed with for a while.

So the plan to repopulate the sayians was born.
