8 STRINGS? I know about 12 (guitar), 7 (guitar), 6 (guitar, banjo), 5 (bass, banjo), 4 (bass, ukelele), and 3 (shamisen) stringed instruments but 8 is new, at least among electric instruments.

Yes it is an Ibanez. Its the new Ibanez RGA8 which was presented at NAMM this Year.
