Summary: | Ability to adjust quality of resized JPEGs |
Description: | Sometimes, when a high-resolution JPEG that has noticeable artifacts is uploaded, the generated resized image has extremely bad artifacts that are far worse than the source image. Currently, there aren't any good ways to avoid these artifacts. |

As far as I'm aware, ImageMagick has no way of telling how compressed an image is, so unfortunately there is no way to do this automatically. I'll look into building an admin-only control panel that will allow site owners to regenerate thumbnails, samples, etc, since there are a number of other use cases where this would be useful. However, if this /does/ get implemented, please don't expect it to get used much to regenerate samples just because they are poorly compressed. Because of this, it's probably a good idea to just use the full-size image anyway. |
