| Summary: | +/- buttons in tag listing |
| Description: | I talk about +/- links in main image listing. They are for adding tags in search query that's understandable, but for example if I have query "solo blue_hair" and I'll click on "-" button near tag blue_hair I will get "solo blue_hair -blue_hair". That's not useful at all. It's better to get just "solo" in this case. I understand it's breaking logic a little bit, subtracting instead of adding, but it will be more useful than behaviour that gelbooru have now |
| Additional Info: | Notice that's only for "-" button because for case with "solo -blue_har" blue_hair tag will not appear in listing and "+" button too. |

| The behavior we have now is more useful, actually. It's there for people to narrow down their search. Imagine instead, for example, you're searching for "solo". You're immediately bombarded by a whole image dump of solo images of Moroboshi Kirari, who you absolutely hate. You can click the minus button to remove images of her from your search. At that point, you have a nice, clean search clear of all of the character that you don't want to see. If you're proposing that this change only take effect for tags that are already in your search bar, that creates an issue of buttons that look identical doing different things that can be very confusing to users who don't know what they do. We're explicitly trying not to have a confusing user interface. It's poor interface design to make a button do something different without making the button look different. |

Maybe, but right now that buttons aren't doing anything useful. And I propose only possible function to them. I talk specifically about minus buttons near tags which in search bar already. I'll use your example in different way. Let's say you have "solo moborosh_kirari" in search bar, and you wanna go back to solo. Of course you have moboroshi_kirari tag in listing and you have minus button near it. But it's not useful at all. There is a different option. To change search behaviour but not button's behaviour. For example now "solo blue_hair -blue_hair" will show you nothing. I understand why. And nobody will type that manually of course. But it will be useful. I understand your point about confusing users. But the problem is there. It's hard to manage search in one little input widget. +/- make it easy a little bit but not enough. Gelbooru allows to add many tags to search bar but don't provide convenient way to manage them, look at them, remove them. Maybe I'll think about it and create another ticket. |
