She has lent her voice to characters in games, eroges, anime and Japanese dubs of American cartoons and films. She became a prominent voice actress after the massive success of Suzumiya_Haruhi_no_Yuuutsu where she played the timid Asahina_Mikuru. Gotou is well known for her soft and high-pitched voice and she often plays timid and cute characters. She is also known for the dissonance between the characters she often plays and her actual personality. In real life, she has many interests associated with men like motorcycles and a deep love of Hokuto_no_Ken which is often regarded as one of the manlier action anime/manga produced in Japan. This dissonance was comically exaggerated in a cameo appearance she made in Lucky_Star where she is portrayed as a female biker gang member (bousouzoku) with a rough way of speaking called Gotouza-sama.
