She debuted in the original My Little Pony series and was portrayed as a clumsy but well meaning pony. Her color scheme remains the same in Friendship is Magic, but her hair is styled like a ponytail and she is portrayed as a cowgirl. In FIM, she is a friendly and laid-back pony who is almost always seen with a cowboy hat. She works on an apple farm and helps harvest apples and take care of the non pony animals there. As a result of all this physical labor, she is very physically athletic. She is a member of the very large Apple family and often acts an older sister figure to others. Although she is generally kind, she has a strong sense of pride and can be very stubborn. She initially had difficulty asking others for help even when she clearly needed it. She also had a rivalry with Rainbow Dash, but she gradually mellows out over the course of the series. She speaks with a Tennessee drawl, which was inspired by real life Tennessee native singers Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus. In G1, she is voiced by Sandy Duncan. In Friendship is Magic, she is voiced by Ashleigh Ball who also does her singing.
