Now Viewing: mankanshoku_makoTag type: Character A brown haired teen girl with a bob haircut. She usually wears a school uniform. She is one of the main characters of Kill_la_Kill. She is the older sister of Mantaro who is a thief and lives in a run down shanty town like city of Hounnoji. Mako is an eccentric and hyperactive girl who often seems cheerfully oblivious to what is going on. She has a bizarre train of thought that only makes sense to her and functions as one of the main sources of comic relief in Kill La Kill. Her arguments are so strange that those listening to her are often left speechless with bewildered expressions on their faces. While she is aware of how the fascist dictatorship like Academy functions, she does not seem to question it and maintains a cheerful attitude despite the dire situation everyone is in to the point that she has a habit of divulging depressing facts with a cheerful expression on her face. She is the first friend of Matoi Ryuuko although she pretty much declares herself to be Matoi's best friend soon after meeting her. Nevertheless, she is the first student to be friendly towards Matoi and takes a liking to her, often cheering Matoi on during her battles. Furthermore, Ryuuko is actually the first person Mako considers to be her real friend and prior to meeting Ryuuko, any friends she had were imaginary. Mako is also the first person in Ryuuko's life that Ryuuko considers to be a friend and Mako is notably one of the few people who can calm Ryuuko down. Ryuuko is at her happiest when she is spending time with Mako and Senketsu. Mako also agrees with many of her male classmates and the males in her family that Ryuuko is quite attractive. While she does not openly oppose the student council's policies, she is targeted by the council members due to her friendship with Ryuuko though Gamagoori Ira notably has a soft spot towards her. However, she is willing to put her life on the line and stand up for Ryuuko and defend her in her own oddball way. This trait is shared by the rest of her family who are all willing to risk their lives to protect those they love. Ryuuko is often able to learn valuable lessons from Mako's bizarre speeches. She generally stays out of combat situations but she can be surprisingly effective when properly motivated. She briefly gets access to a special two star Goku uniform in episode 7 during the only time she comes into conflict with Ryuuko and fights with her. This happened as a result of a well-intentioned plan gone wrong. Ryuuko decides to create a fight club to both get better uniforms and give the Mankanshoku family a better life but makes Mako becomes the co-club president because she doesn't want to do all the paperwork. Mako does the job very well and Ryuuko earns a lot of money for the Mankanshokus from her victories against other club presidents but this results in the Mankanshoku family becoming greedy and drifting apart. Ryuuko decides to dismantle the club, but she is opposed by Mako who is given a two star uniform by Satsuki to do battle with. This uniform consists of a long coat, hat, and brass knuckles with her name on them, making the otherwise innocent Mako look like a tough Japanese delinquent. She is also constantly chewing on a long piece of clover straw. Mako adopts a serious expression during the time she is wearing this costume as opposed to her usual cheerful self. Mako also proves to be a strong fighter, using her now super powered fists and weapons like baseball bats and missiles in combat. Despite being a Two Star Uniform, Mako in this costume is abnormally strong for a Two Star student as it greatly boosts Mako's physical abilities although it does not boost Mako's intelligence. She manages to make good use of her newfound powers, but ultimately surrenders once she realizes, thanks to Ryuuko refusing to fight back or even dodge, that she and her family have become corrupt and greedy to the point of being willing to let the newest member of their family die in order to preserve their socioeconomic status. Mako becomes the first character to surrender her uniform and subsequently does not suffer a clothes-destroying defeat. However, this is not the last time the uniform is seen. After Mako, Satsuki, and the Elite Four join Nudist Beach, she puts the uniform again for the final battle against Ragyou and COVERS. While Ryuuko and Satsuki take on Ragyou, Mako does battle with a giant COVERS monster attacking the Nudist Beach aircraft carrier while wearing this costume. Despite her hyperactivity, she finds her homeroom class to be incredibly boring. When class is about to start, she finishes her lunch and falls into a deep sleep within the space of a few seconds. Mako also has great difficulty in getting dressed, even when she is putting on a relatively simple outfit. Her theme song is the upbeat rock song "Light Your Heart Up," performed by Aimee Blackschleger. Its lyrics represent Mako's friendship with and feelings towards Ryuuko. Mako is also the focus of Kill la Kill's 2nd animation. Like Ryuuko, Mako's design changed a bit during development of the series, the creators considered giving Mako pigtails, a ponytail, black or blonde hair. Mako's Two Star Uniform was originally meant to be an homage to World War Hulk. She is voiced by Suzaki_Aya. During the time she was voicing the character she accidentally, due to her getting her done by a different hair stylist than the one she usually frequents, ended up with a haircut similar to Mako's making her look like the character herself. She decided to keep the hair style for this reason. Other Wiki Information Last updated: 10/27/15 6:17 PM by jojosstand This entry is not locked and you can edit it as you see fit. |
