She is one of the main characters of One_Piece. She has short hair prior to the time skip and long hair afterwards She is a money-loving girl who often uses her wits and good looks to get what she wants. She initially seems selfish, but during the Arlong arc, Luffy and co. learn that Nami is more self-sacrificing than she seems. Part of the reason she wants money is so that she can one day pay off Arlong and get him to stop terrorizing her hometown and she pretends to collaborate with Arlong at the cost of her reputation amongst her hometown's residents. This plan goes awry but Luffy and co. are able to help her out and she joins the Straw Hat Pirates soon afterwards and becomes a loyal member even though she often gets exasperated with her fellow crew member's antics. She is the navigator of the Straw Hat crew. Although she does not fight as much, she uses a weapon called the Clima-Tract. She is also famous for her breasts growing from normal-sized to large over the course of the manga. Her outfits, at the same time, also get more revealing. This change in design is influenced by Oda_Eiichiro's affection towards his wife Inabi Chiaki who had played Nami in a Jump Festa stage performance. She was originally voiced by Toyoguchi_Megumi in the first One Piece adaptation (One Piece: Taose! Kaizoku Ganzak), but was replaced by Okamura_Akemi for the main anime series, who became her main actress. In the 2023 live action series, she is played by Emily Rudd with her child self being played by Lily Fisher. For Rudd, it was a major dream role as she is a big fan of anime and of One Piece with Nami being her favorite character from the series. Afterwards, Rudd landed her first anime voice acting role as Marcille in the English dub of Dungeon Meshi.
