She is one of the major characters from Final_Fantasy_Vii. Her name is often spelled as Aeris in the English localizations of Final Fantasy VII. She is one of the most iconic characters of not only FFVII but also the entire Final Fantasy franchise. She came in 2nd place in a 2013 poll by Square Enix for favorite female character in the series and came in 3rd place in a 2020 Japanese poll for best Final Fantasy character. She is a kind-hearted but headstrong flower seller who grew up in the rough slums of Midgar. In spite of living in a gloomy city, she has a strong connection with nature. Cloud Strife meets her for the first time during a bombing mission he's participating in with the rebel group Avalanche. The two of them get to know each other more after he crashes into her church. Cloud learns that the Shinra Corporation wants to capture her and she asks for him to be her bodyguard in exchange for a date. She joins the main party shortly afterwards, and forms a close relationship with Cloud. In combat, she uses a staff and functions as the main healer of the party. She has two instrumental theme songs, Flowers Blooming in the Church and Aerith's Theme, both composed by Uematsu Nobuo. In Japanese, she is voiced by Sakamoto_Maaya, who has been her seiyuu ever since Advent Children. In English, she has primarily been voiced by actresses who aren't voice actresses by trade. In English, she is voiced by singer Mandy Moore (Kingdom Hearts 1), Mena Suvari (Kingdom Hearts 2 and Advent Children), Andrea Bowen (Crisis Core), and Briana White of the Youtube video game playthrough channel Strange Rebel Gaming (FFVII Remake). White also did a stream playthrough of the game after its launch.
