She is a virtual_youtuber who is part of Hololive's English branch and is the first member of both holomyth and the hololive_english branch as a whole to debut. She debuted on September 12, 2020. She was designed by Yukisame. Her name is a reference to the Latin proverb Memento Mori and the musical instrument, calliope. She is a reaper who is said to have been around since the dawn of mankind and her exact age is not given. As she is so ancient, she is not fully up to date on contemporary slang and often comically misuses or mispronounces common slang terms and memes. She is normally awkward socially, but she becomes much more confident when she's performing. She is known for her constantly darting eyes while streaming. While it resembles a nervous tic, it is actually a result of her real life set up, which has her shifting her attention towards multiple monitors. She still retains this quirk in her newer models as it's a popular trait of hers. She is close with Takanashi Kiara although she claims to not like her much since Kiara is a phoenix and won't stay dead. Much like her relationship with Kiara, it's common for Calli to collab with a more chaotic holo member whose antics will often leave her flabbergasted. She is unique among the more musically inclined hololive vtubers in that she specializes in hip hop music. She is bilingual, speaking both English and Japanese, and lives in the Japanese underworld, which has allowed her to frequently collab with Hololive Japan and other Japan based entertainers. She has parlayed her bilingual skills into special English teaching collab streams, where she will teach the Hololive JPN members English slang. For video games, she is known for frequently streaming the infamously difficult game Jump King. However, she has played the game enough times that her streams of the game are relatively calm and function like a podcast where she will chat with her fellow members and the viewers while playing it. For her podcast, named Chadcast, she collabs with Irys and Hakos Baelz, two other hololive English members who also reside in Japan. She is a big fan of the game Persona 3, a game that thematically revolves around death and features hip hop music, and was later able to collaborate with the two most prominent musicians who worked on the game, composer Meguro Shoji and rapper Lotus Juice as well as do a playthrough of its remake. Like her fellow Hololive English members, she became very popular upon debut, gaining over 500,000 subscribers in little over a month and becoming one of the most subscribed members of hololive in general. Her first EP also became the top selling hip hop album on itunes in October 2020. As she is based in Japan, most of her collaborations are with Japanese artists. She is also the first hololive vtuber to become signed with a music label, Universal Music Group, which she joined in 2022. She has worn multiple awards in VTuber music categories such as Best Music Vtuber at the 2023 Vtuber Awards and awards for her songs Red and Excuse Me, But Could you Please RIP?
