Now Viewing: spider-man:_no_way_homeTag type: Copyright A crossover superhero action movie created by Marvel Studios and Columbia Pictures. The film was released on December 13, 2021. It is the 27th film entry in the Marvel_Cinematic_Universe, is a direct sequel to Spider Man: Far From Home, and was created by the same cast and crew as the previous MCU Spider-Man films. The film is notable for being a crossover of every live action cinematic Spider-Man film to date, effectively canonizing the previous continuities as alternate universes. All of the returning characters are played by their original actors, and in some cases, this led to Marvel using digital effects to de-age the actors to make them look like they did in their original films. This crossover status means this film is not only a sequel to Far From Home but also a sequel to Sam Raimi's Spider Man 3, and The Amazing Spider Man 2, which were the final entries in the past Spider-Man continuities. As such, be wary of spoilers of not only this film but of all of the preceding cinematic Spider-Man movies. The film continues directly after Far From Home. Peter Parker is forced to deal with the fallout of Mysterio not only outing him as Spider-Man, but also framing him for his murder. While Parker is able to get the charges of murder dealt with quickly, the exposure of his secret identity causes him far more trouble to the point that Peter is desperate enough to seek Doctor Strange's help. The two of them decide to solve Peter's predicament by having Strange cast a spell that would make people forget Peter is Spider-man. Peter initially agrees, but when Strange begins casting his spell, Peter starts having second thoughts and asks for changes to the spell. This turns out to have consequences far more dire than he had anticipated. Peter is menaced by super villains he himself has never met before, but Spider-Men from other universes have. Peter soon learns that one thing the villains have in common is their knowledge of Spider-Man's true identity. The supervillains have also been ripped from different points in time. Peter must now find a way to clean up the mess he made by figuring out a safe way to return the villains towards their universes while also solving the problems caused by his identity exposure. Marvel was known for keeping a tight lid on spoilers to the point that it was common for actors to receive their lines without context or to be ignorant of whoever their character was supposed to be fighting until the film's premiere. However, this film became infamous in the MCU for having the most spoilers leaked pre-release. Nevertheless, the spoilers made the crossover element of the film clear to prospective viewers and generally increased their hype, which led to the ticket sale websites crashing due to the overwhelming demand. When the film was released, it was the biggest box office smash since the coronavirus pandemic began, grossing over 1 billion dollars globally, and received generally positive critical reviews.
