Lilith changes appearance and role depending on the game, ranging from simple enemy to major antagonist. Lilith is based on the equally infamous Judeo-Christian character of the same name. Lilith is involved in many stories, though a common origin is Lilith was the first wife to the first man Adam, abandoning him after leaving Eden. Lilith became a demon, causing plagues, killing babies, and is symbolizes the sin of infidelity. Lilith is also described to have sex with men while they sleep as a Succubus does, and is mother to many demons, including Lilim. Lilith has five different designs in SMT games. Her design in the original Shin Megami Tensei takes heavy inspiration from Isa Andersen's role as Lilith in the movie Night Angel (1990). What separates them is the inclusion of a long snake around her body, acting similar to a feather_boa. Two other designs from the PSX port of SMT I and Soul Hackers are similar to the original, though with less makeup and accessories. Her redesign in Shin_Megami_Tensei_V:_Vengeance is also similar to the original, though updated to fit in with the Qadištu_(megami_tensei). Her design in Shin_Megami_Tensei_IV is radically different from all others, ditching the snake and human-like temptress aesthetic entirely in favor of avian features. It is likely a design choice that Lilith here looks similar to the Archangels in that game. Lilith is usually a regular demon with next to no major story relevance. SMT I, IV and V:V are outliers. in SMT I, she takes the guise of Yuriko_(Megami_Tensei) to sway Kazuya_(Megami_Tensei) to the side of Lucifer. She performs a similar role and takes a similar appearance (as a human) in SMT IV. In SMT V:V, Lilith is leader of the Qadištu, the main antagonists for better part of the story. Despite their design differences, Lilith behaves similarly across all iterations. Her plans involve manipulating the hearts and minds of humans to accomplish her goals, as befitting a seductress.
