三角頭巾 (sankaku zukin, lit. "triangular headpiece") is a type of headband sometimes worn by ghosts in Japanese folklore. Ex.: post #1236530.

Formerly, mistakenly tagged by Danbooru as hitaikakushi. (See danbooru.donmai.us/forum/show/62509 .)

Derived from Edo period burial rituals, it was originally intended to protect the newly deceased from evil spirits. It has various regional names: hitai-eboshi, tenkan, houkan, kami-kaburi, and so on.
