Now Viewing: wakamoto_norioTag type: Character 若本 規夫 Prolific male seiyuu with a big booming bassy voice. He was born on October 18, 1945, in Shimonoseki, Japan. He is a bespectacled man with short, black_hair. He didn't plan on being a voice actor professionally and in his youth studied to be a law enforcer, studying at Waseda University's Faculty of Law. He then entered the Nakano Police Academy and became a police officer stationed at the Kuramae Police Station. As a police officer, he was assigned to an anti-riot unit that participated in arresting rioters in 1968's Shinjuku Riot. After a few years of police work, Wakamoto steadily became disillusioned with it and underwent a change in career. Wakamoto got into voice acting once he saw ads for Kurosawa Ryo's training school. He enrolled in the school and started his VA career dubbing for foreign movies. He debuted as Onoriki in 1977's Glacier Warrior Gaislugger, but became more popular from the 1980s onward. Thanks to his booming voice, he frequently plays tough men or villains. His popular roles include Cell_(dragon_ball), Charles_zi_Brittania from Code_Geass, and Johnny_(Guilty_Gear). Although he rarely plays a lead character, he is very well liked by fans and those in the industry, and the characters he plays are often fondly remembered even if they have little screen time. He also goes by Hiruma Kyounosuke, whenever he's acting in adult-oriented anime/visual novels.
