Now Viewing: bowserTag type: Character The iconic villain of the Super Mario Bros. franchise. He is also known as King Koopa. A giant fire breathing turtle who wears spiked bracelets and has fiery red hair. He first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 1 and has consistently appeared in the Mario series since then. He is almost always the final boss. His characterization varies depending on the game. He comes off as a goofball, though not useless, in the Mario RPG games, but in the main platformers, he is portrayed as serious and credible threat who would likely take over the Mushroom Kingdom if weren't for the Mario brothers. He is inordinately fond of kidnapping Peach. The Mario RPG games posit that Bowser does this because he is attracted to Peach and that he would like to have her for himself, but the main platformer games don't elaborate too much on his motivations for doing so. He is also seemingly near invulnerable. No matter how badly Mario thrashes him in any game, Bowser always survives and comes back for more. He's fond of constructing castles and hideouts filled with lava or set in a lava-filled environment. Although he is quite sinister in appearance, Bowser is not completely evil and has some standards. Unlike other villains, Bowser does not ruthlessly dispose of any henchmen who aren't up to his standards and his subordinates genuinely like and respect him. He is also protective of the Koopalings and Bowser Jr. and gives them powerful weapons, airships, and castles. Although he would very much like to dominate and take the Mushroom Kingdom for himself, he often expresses shock at the more malevolent and destructive behavior of other villains in the series like those in the Mario RPG games. Bowser is voice acted in the video games, but his voice acting, except for Super Mario Sunshine primarily consists of grunts and roars with occasional coherent words being spouted out. The text boxes communicate what Bowser is saying and none of the characters have any trouble understanding what he says. Bowser also appears in the Disney movie Wreck-it-Ralph. He is voiced by Wada Akiko (1986 anime), Sato Masaharu (OVA trilogy), Tatsuta Naoki (BS Super Mario Collection), Scott Burns (2002-2008), Eric Newsome (2007-2008), and Kenny James (present voice actor) Other Wiki Information Last updated: 11/16/12 2:04 AM by jojosstand This entry is not locked and you can edit it as you see fit. |
