Now Viewing: contra_4Tag type: Copyright A 2d run and gun action game for the Nintendo DS. It was released in 2007 and developed by Wayforward Technologies and Konami. It is also a 20th anniversary celebration of the Contra franchise. It is known as Contra Dual Spirits in Japan. It features a soundtrack composed by VGMix creator/remixer Jake Kaufman. It is chronologically set directly after Contra 3 but before Contra: Shattered Soldier and is designed to be stylistically similar to the earlier games in the franchise, except that it utilizes both of the DS's screens for gameplay, due to the developers being more fond of the earlier games and the game features numerous references to these games. The North American releases of the earlier Contra games had a somewhat different canon compared to the original Japanese version, but this game seeks to reconcile the two of them. The game introduces Mad Dog and Scorpion into the series as playable characters alongside Bill Rizer and Lance Bean. Contra Hard Corps' Sheena Etranzi and Shattered Soldier's Lucia appear as secret playable characters.
