As she is already dead at the start of the Devil May Cry series thanks to the first game's villain Mundus, she does not play an active role in the games' storyline nor are there many flashbacks elaborating on her. While Dante does not seem to care much about his father's legacy, he loved Eva very much and her demise hit him particularly hard as she had sacrificed herself to save Dante who was a child at the time. Dante is normally unflappable, but anyone who sullies his mother's name meets his wrath. He remembers her very fondly and according to him she was a kind and strong woman. Vergil also loved Eva very much, and her death also played a large role in his subsequent decisions and later estrangement from Dante. In the reboot DmC:_Devil_May_Cry she is portrayed with black hair like that game's version of Dante. Eva is also mentioned in Kamiya Hideki's spiritual successor to Devil May Cry, Bayonetta where she is mentioned to be a witch who entered a contract with dark knight. It is unclear if it this is meant to be the same Eva or if it's just another one of Kamiya's trademark references to his past work and not meant to be taken as part of Devil May Cry canon.
