Now Viewing: kaneda_shoutarouTag type: Character The black haired red jacket wearing teen hero of Akira. He is the charismatic and crude leader of the Capsule biker gang. He is childhood friends with Shima Tetsuo, but Tetsuo feels an inferiority complex towards Kaneda and secretly resents him. He is rebellious and coarse in personality, but he cares deeply about his fellow gang members and later Kei. He has womanizing tendencies and often openly flirts with any attractive female, especially Kei. Kei, a serious government rebel, is often annoyed with his behavior, but she gradually warms up to him. He has no super powers or professional combat training, but he has an uncanny ability to survive in life or death battles with better trained or more powerful opponents. Kaneda uses his quick thinking and when he has his motorcycle with him, his bike riding skills to get out of tight situations. Even after Tetsuo taps into his formidable psychic powers, Kaneda manages to give Tetsuo a lot of trouble in combat. Although Kaneda spends significant portions of screen time without his bike, his red motorcycle is iconic and often appears in fan art of the series. Kaneda himself shares the general positive fan opinion of the bike and he is quite protective of it. He is voiced by Iwata_Mitsuo in one of his earliest roles.
