They pursue and continually toss enemies at Mario and co. but Mario and co. can take them out and hijack their clouds for a short period of time. Lakitus often show up in more mundane circumstances in the Mario universe. One functions as an in-universe cameraman in Super Mario 64, and in Mario Kart, they rescue racers who have fallen off the race course and wield traffic lights and flags to signify the start and end of a race.
