He was introduced in Majora's Mask and has become one of the few recurring characters in the Zelda series besides Link, Zelda, and Ganon. He is obsessed with fairies and specializes in cartography. He also stars in Tingle's Balloon Fight DS which is only available to Japanese Club Nintendo Platinum Members and Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland for the Nintendo DS which was released in Japan and Europe. It has yet to be released in North America. He makes a cameo in the Great Bay stage in Super Smash Bros. Melee where he is attached to a balloon. Said balloon can be popped causing him to fall to the ground or into the lake depending on where he was hovering. He also appears in Super Smash Bros. brawl as as an assist trophy. He is one of the most controversial characters in the Zelda series. In North America, he is widely reviled and this negative reception is possibly the reason why the Rupeeland spinoff game has yet to be localized for North America, but in Japan and some parts of Europe, he is better accepted.
