She is the game's first Nordic shipgirl as well as the first one from the Swedish Royal Navy (which was a neutral and mostly uninvolved navy during World_War_II, also a first). Her artist is Drew_(drew213g) and her namesake is the island of Gotland [2], located southeast of mainland Sweden. Gotland has long_hair grayish blue_hair tied into a hair_bun and a mole under the far corner of her left eye (mole_under_eye). She wears a military_uniform consisting of an overcoat, a shirt with a blue_sailor_collar and black_neckwear neckerchief, and a blue_skirt with a yellow stripe (the colors of the Swedish flag). Completing the outfit are half_gloves white_gloves, a dirk strapped to her thigh (thigh_strap), mid-shin socks and rudder_shoes. Her rigging includes a smokestack, a single turret at her right side and a short landing pad for seaplanes at her left. After her remodel_(Kantai_Collection) she trades her sailor collar and neckerchief for a collared_shirt and necktie, and trades her socks for thighhighs. Her landing pad is also replaced with a group of anti-aircraft guns, reflecting her conversion (see below). As noted above, Sweden was neutral and mostly uninvolved during WWII and the historical Gotland did not see any active combat. She just became known for spotting Bismarck_(Kantai_Collection) as the latter broke out of the Baltic Sea. Bismarck's coordinates were sent to general headquarters, but were intercepted by the British embassy, triggering the Allied chase after the German battleship [3]. Gotland was first converted into an anti-aircraft cruiser in 1944 due to lack of seaplanes, then into a training ship in 1953 with a capacity as a fighter direction ship in case of war. She was later decommissioned in 1956, struck off in 1960, sold in 1962, and finally scrapped in 1963.
