It was adapted into an anime TV series which ran from October 14, 2004 to January 13, 2005. The anime is directed by Koujina Hiroshi and written by Okeya Akira. Music is composed by Iwasaki Yasunori and the characters are designed by Inoue_Hideki. While the anime and manga have the same basic premise, the manga and anime go in different directions story wise. The series is a fusion of science fiction, western, and jidai geki genres. Futuristic weaponry, cowgirls, and samurai exist side by side. It is set in war-torn feudal Japan-esque setting. Senshi, those with mastery of firearms, dominate almost everyone else. Kojima Yajiro is a young samurai with a hatred of guns and gun-users and he is working with other samurai to free his lord who is imprisoned within a fort. However, their swords prove to be ineffective against the guns that the fort's occupiers are using. Yajiro and his men are forced to retreat. Yajiro manages to escape thanks to the help of blonde and busty beauty named Tendou Rushuna who hides Yajiro. Rushuna is a strangely cheerful young woman and a drifter who seems somewhat ditzy. She decides to help Yajiro in freeing his lord and reveals herself to be a 'senshi' who has superhuman skills with guns as well as superhuman reflexes. Rushuna successfully frees Yajiro's lord and Yajiro, feeling that Rushuna is different from other senshi, decides to accompany her on her quest. In the manga, she is searching for her homeland whereas the anime she is aiming to bring peace to the land by spreading the ultimate battle strategy, to remove the enemy's will to fight, which was taught to Rushuna by the Empress. The series is known for its stylized gun fights.
