Now Viewing: katsuragi_(kantai_collection)Tag type: Character 葛城 (Named after Mount Yamato Katsuragi [1], lit. Kudzu Castle) The Kantai_Collection version of the historic Imperial_Japanese_Navy Aircraft Carrier Katsuragi, introduced in the April 2015 event. Third of the three Unryuu_(Kantai_Collection)-class carriers. Like the middle of the three Unryuu sisters, Amagi_(Kantai_Collection), in pre-remodel form, she "wears" a furisode to reflect the fact that she spent almost her entire service camouflaged. Unlike Amagi, (and similar to Shouhou_(Kantai_Collection)), she wears her kimono mostly cast off. In kai form (remodel_(kantai_collection)), she wears Unryuu-style clothing. Katsuragi has long_hair black_hair with some tied in a small ponytail with a white hair_ribbon. She has blue_eyes. Underneath a green furisode with orange patterns that is only loosely tied around her waist by a camouflage-patterned obi, she wears an odd piece of clothing that looks like a robe's front that seems mostly just tied to her chest with an armor protector over her chest. Below, she wears a fundoshi. In her kai form, she disposes of the kimono entirely, and wears a pleated_skirt, asymmetric_gloves fingerless_gloves, with one being an elbow glove, and black_legwear thighhighs to create zettai_ryouiki. Her armor also includes an armored belt. In her combat gear (machinery), she has a large crossbow pre-kai, and a bow after kai, unlike her scroll-bearing sisters. Her pre-kai crossbow notably incorporates aspects of the real ship's flight tower, and houses turrets for AA guns. Her quiver in kai form, however, has paper-charm-like arrowheads on her arrows, giving her some hybrid relation to her sisters. Also in kai form, a flight deck is suspended off of the left of the rear of her armored belt, along with a mockup of her bridge and several AA turrets as a counterbalance on her right. Unlike her sisters and cousins, she has a slim figure, complete with a flat_chest. This is both due to her being fitted with destroyer machinery instead of her sisters' heavy cruiser machinery, and the fact that she never received a complement of planes. (Her kai form is merely a "what-if".) Katsuragi spend nearly the entirety of her career at port because of the American conquest of the sea and oil fields. Katsuragi would be permanently moored at kure, disguised as a city street by her former crew. She was effectively hulked during the Raid on Kure Harbor [2], when an American Curtiss_SB2C_Helldiver dropped a 2,000 pound bomb into her aircraft elevator that blew off the entirety of her flight deck. Amazingly, she did not sink, and ultimately had the skeleton of her hanger plated over and was used as a repatriation ship to return Japanese nationals home and American GIs to serve in Japan. Because of this, Katsuragi the KanColle character seems to have a complex about being a "floating AA platform". She is A big fan of Zuikaku_(Kantai_Collection), and sometimes portrayed as an elder figure. The real life Katsuragi, at the time of launch and eventual return to homeland for repairs after the above-mentioned Kure bombing, was able to meet the only other aircraft carrier available before later sinking.
