Now Viewing: nukekubiTag type: General Nukekubi (抜け首, lit. "missing neck") is a sub-type of rokurokubi (ろくろ首, 轆轤首), a type of youkai. Nukekubi's heads come off and fly around freely, the other rokurokubi have necks that stretch. Nukekubi has been determined to be the original type of rokurokubi, with the stretchable neck-rokurokubi arising from people mistaking the spiritual string that attaches nukekubi's heads to their torso with a long neck. Nukekubi's head-detaching ability is matched in Western folklore by the dullahans. Famous nukekubi: Sekibanki, from Touhou.
