It is set on an floating continent in the gas giant planet Ietta. Elysse Aldo Morisch is on the run from Lord Guizel and the military who are attempting to capture her and have already killed her father for not complying with their wishes. Elysse is rescued by Titanvia Mu Koshigaya, the tomboyish captain of the Cha-Cha-Maru. Tita and the ship's crew are a group of hunters who capture creatures that roam the sea of clouds around the floating continent. Tita and Elysse develop a close friendship, but Lord Guizel has not given up his pursuit of Elysse and Tita and her crew are dragged into a life and death battle with the military. Besides its emphasis on the close relationship between Tita and Elysse, the anime is notable for having numerous shots of jiggling breasts. The North American DVD release of the OVA even includes a Breast Jiggle Counter as a feature. It has also received a manga titled Plastic Little: Captain's Log from the same creators of the anime.
