Now Viewing: shanaTag type: Character The female lead of Shakugan_no_Shana. She is a small flat chested teen girl. Outside of combat, she has black hair, but when fighting her long hair becomes fiery red and fiery embers even come out of her. She often wears a longcoat along with her school uniform. She was raised by Alastor and Wilhemina Carmel to be an effective fighter and Flame Haze. Because she was primarily trained to be a warrior, her social skills are lacking and she often comes off as hostile to others. When she develops romantic feelings for Yuuji, she becomes confused about what to do and has difficulty expressing her feelings. Nevertheless, Yuuji and his mother Chigusa become close to Shana and Yuuji's peers for the most part have no serious issues with her. This may be because she is good at almost every school activity she is asked to do, to the point that she makes the teachers look bad. Shana also becomes a nicer person the more time she spends interacting with Yuuji and his peers. She is impatient and doesn't like having to explain things multiple times. When she gets annoyed by Yuuji, she'll shout, 'Urusai!" (Shut up!) three times. In her Shana tan portrayal, this is parodied by having her shout, "Uruchai!" (a more childish, slurred way of saying the same thing) At school, she goes by the name of Hirai Yukari. In reality, Shana did not have a name until she met Yuuji who felt she should have one. She also loves melon bread. While Shana is famous for her cute and petite appearance, she was originally envisioned as an older mature woman like the busty Margery Daw in early drafts of the novels. Her personality, however, was the same as the final product. After discussions with his editor, writer Takahashi Yasuchiro rewrote Shana as a younger girl in order to emphasize that Shakugan no Shana was a story of growth and to emphasize Shana's physical conflicts. She is voiced by Kugimiya_Rie, one of her most well known roles. Shana is considered by fans to be one of the 'Four Tsundere Wonders' alongside Louise Valliere, Aisaka Taiga, and Sanzenin Nagi who are all played by Kugimiya Rie.
