Now Viewing: anomalocarisTag type: General アノマロカリス (anomarokarisu) Anomalocaris ("abnormal/strange shrimp") is an extinct genus of anomalocaridid, a family of animal thought to be closely related to ancestral arthropods. It lived during the Cambrian period (544-500 million years ago). It had a head with prominent eyes and a pair of grasping appendages, and its body was flanked by lobes used for swimming. The largest predator of the time period, it could grow as long as 2 meters (6 feet) in length and was widely distributed. Its name means "strange shrimp."
