It was adapted into an anime OVA by Bee_Train that ran from March 28, 2007 to August 29, 2007. The anime was directed by Kurokawa Tomoyuki, written by by Urahata Tatsuhiko, and had a rock soundtrack composed by Fukuda Yasafumi. It is set in Forland Kingdom, a world mostly modeled after medieval Europe, but some characters employ futuristic technology. The Forland family, the rulers of the kingdom, are under attack by rebels who want to overthrow the family by force. The rebel forces are led by Dr. Akamashi, a scientist who previously worked for the Forlands, but has turned against them. The rebels successfully assassinate the Forland king, forcing his daughter, Princess Alita Forland, to go on the run. While Alita is escaping from the castle, she runs into bounty hunter Falis, and, in the midst of a near-death encounter, literally swap bodies. Alita is well-versed in the politics and the formalities of being a princess, but has no combat skills. Falis is a bounty hunter from an impoverished background who has spent all her life fighting. Alita proposes a deal with Falis. Alita will offer her body and soul to the Falis, but Falis, in Alita's body, will return to Forland Kingdom and use her combat skills to defend the kingdom. Falis accepts this offer and becomes the new princess of the Forland Kingdom fighting off its enemies and causing Alita to earn the nickname, "Murder Princess," while learning about how to be a proper princess/ruler under the guidance of Alita (in Faris' body) who assumes the name of her deceased handmaiden, Milano.
