Japanese TV stations run non-profit public service ads to fill time when they don't have enough paid ads available, and so the earthquake resulted in Aisatsu no Mahou being aired way too much. It turned into a meme, with rule 34. Aisatsu is commonly rendered as 'greeting', but it also covers valedictions (parting words), and by extension anything said or done to show proper respect or gratitude. List of characters:
