Now Viewing: jeanne_(bayonetta)Tag type: Character Bayonetta's evil counterpart/ former friend of sorts. She is a recurring boss in the game and since she too is also a witch, she has a similar fighting style as Bayonetta. She also favors motorcycles and rides them more than Bayonetta does. She occasionally uses her own motorcycle with a license plate that reads Cutie J in combat. She has short white hair, wears a red jumpsuit, and keeps her glasses on her head. Her design may also be an homage to Dante as she has the same color scheme as him. Her name is a reference to Jeanne D'arc. Character designer Shimazaki Mari designed her with a retro look, as if she were a woman from the 1960s. Shimazaki also notes that amongst quite a few of the Platinum Games developers, Jeanne is more popular than Bayonetta. While creator Kamiya Hideki was not as involved in Bayonetta 2's development, he was very particular in how Jeanne should be portrayed. Bayonetta eventually discovers that the true reason Jeanne is attacking her is because Jeanne has been brainwashed by Father Balder. After their last battle, Jeanne breaks out of her brainwashing and at the same time, Bayonetta finally remembers her connection to Jeanne. The two women reconcile and Jeanne assists Bayonetta in foiling Balder's plans. She can also be unlocked as a playable character after beating Normal mode with a Platinum score. Playing as her does not affect the game's story so the game ends up playing cutscenes with Jeanne in Bayonetta's place. Jeanne returns in Bayonetta 2 and she has grown out her hair whereas Bayonetta has trimmed her hair into a short haircut. Jeanne is an unlockable character in the Platinum Games game The Wonderful 101. She is voiced by Grey Delisle (games) and Sonozaki_Mie (anime, Bayonetta 2).
