Now Viewing: meitantei_conanTag type: Copyright A popular and incredibly long running mystery anime/manga created by Aoyama_Goushou. It is currently the 21st longest running manga in Japan. The original manga debuted in 1994 and was adapted into anime in 1996. Both are still going strong. It has also been adapted into a live action series, which is not as long running as the anime/manga. It is also known as Case Closed in English, which also Americanized the characters' names. It follows the various adventures of Edogawa Conan/Kudou Shinichi. Kudo Shinichi is a genius teen detective who finds his life changed radically once he is poisoned and left for dead by henchmen Gin and Vodka from the mysterious Black Organization. However, instead of killing him, the poison de-ages Shinichi to the point that he is now a little kid. He decides to make the best of the situation and investigate the Black Organization as well as continue solving whatever cases come his way; he adopts the pseudonym Edogawa Conan and wears glasses to go with his new identity and lets Mouri Kogoro take the credit for the cases he solves and even pretends to be Mouri when delivering his conclusions. He tries his best to act as a normal little boy as possible albeit one interested in mysteries to prevent any suspicion and to protect his loved ones like his childhood friend/love interest Mouri Ran. While the series has an ongoing plot concerning the Black Organization, the series has a mostly episodic structure involving Conan solving whatever mystery comes his way. It is also set in the same universe as Aoyama's other anime/manga series Magic Kaito and the series' characters are also recurring supporting characters in Conan. Its protagonist Kaitou Kid even functions as a rival to Conan/Shinichi. The anime TV series and all the movies feature a jazz soundtrack composed by Ono Katsuo.
