Character designs are again done by Bengus. The game's jazz soundtrack is composed by Shibata Tetsuya and Takano Mitsuhiko. Capcom has also released a free bonus mixtape/alternate soundtrack to the game featuring hip hop songs, performed by a variety of artists, inspired by the game. It follows the same gameplay style as its predecessor, but allows for three players on one team. It is a very popular choice for tourneys, particularly in North America. The game received generally positive reviews upon release. It has the largest roster (56 characters) of all the Marvel vs Capcom games due to Capcom deciding to use almost every character from past Marvel/Capcom crossovers and other Capcom games. Capcom also decided to add some characters unique to this game, the only Marvel Vs. Capcom game to do so. The characters are rendered in 2D sprites but the backgrounds are rendered in 3d. It is also the only MVC game to lack character specific endings. The game is a fast paced 2D tag team based fighting game. The game introduces the ability to force a character from the opposing side to join the fight, called a snapback. This requires one bar of the player's super meter to execute, but gives players the ability to knock out one fighter from the opposing team for a short period of time.
