Now Viewing: watsuki_nobuhiroTag type: Artist (和月 伸宏) A Japanese male Mangaka born on May 26, 1970. He is most famous for creating Rurouni_Kenshin. It became one of the most successful series of the 1990s and is still highly regarded, but has also become something of a curse for him as his subsequent series have notoriously been cut short due to lagging sales. Watsuki later revived the manga twice, once as a short reboot in 2012 titled Rurouni Kenshin Restoration, and the second time as a 2017 sequel titled Rurouni Kenshin Hokkaido-hen. However, the revelation and admittance from himself that he possessed child pornography led to both his arrest and Shueisha discontinuing serialization. He practiced kendo as a youth and the character Myoujin Yahiko is based off of what he was like as a youth. He is known for mentoring some mangaka who would go on to create popular shonen action series of their own. He mentored Oda_Eiichiro (One Piece), and Takei_Hiroyuki (Shaman King). He also has a strong interest in video games and Western comics. For the former, he is a major fan of the fighting game series Samurai_Spirits and was even allowed to contribute character designs for the series. Although he predominantly writes and draws shonen action manga, he credits the shoujo manga he read in his youth as an influence on Rurouni Kenshin.
