Now Viewing: battle_tendencyTag type: Copyright Tag refers to images specifically referencing the second Jojo story arc which encompasses Volumes 5-12. It debuted in the tail end of 1987. It was adapted for the first time in the 2012 anime TV series though the 1998 Capcom fighting game incorporated a few references to this arc. It is a globe-trotting action adventure series set in 1938 and also signals a growing shift to an emphasis on outsmarting opponents in fighting as the protagonist Joseph Joestar relies a lot on clever tricks to win battles although he still uses the Ripple technique that Jonathan did. Joseph Joestar, the grandson of Jonathan, moves to New York to visit his grandmother Erina Pendleton. His arrival in New York is a bumpy one as he is confronted with plenty of trouble. He learns that his family friend Robert E.O. Speedwagon has apparently died in Mexico and on top of that, Joseph is attacked by Straizo, a former friend of Speedwagon's. Joseph manages to defeat Straizo but right before Straizo dies, he reveals that a man in the pillar is about to be awakened in Mexico. Joseph heads to Mexico to investigate and uncovers a Nazi lab investigating the man in the pillar. Joseph discovers Speedwagon is still alive albeit in captivity of the Nazis. He has little time to celebrate as the Man in the pillar, named Santana, breaks free and begins massacring the soldiers in the laboratory. Santana is far more powerful than anyone Joseph has ever faced and he has to work together with the Nazi soldier Rudolf von Stroheim in order to win. Joseph manages to defeat Santana, but unfortunately, Santana was actually the weakest of a group of four 'Pillar Men.' The remaining three have been discovered to be in Rome. After the Pillar Men awaken, Joseph finds that he's unable to defeat them in his current state. He, along with fellow Ripple practitioner Caesar A. Zeppeli, seek out the Ripple master Lisa Lisa who trains them to be able to fight the Pillar Men. The Pillar Men are searching for the Red Stone of Aja which Lisa Lisa carries on her person. Combining the Red Stone with a stone mask can cause the Pillar Men to transform into a being even more powerful than they normally are. Joseph, Caesar, and Lisa Lisa work together to stop the Pillar Men from getting their hands on the Red Stone.
