Now Viewing: dogeTag type: Character A image meme that became popular in 2013. It is derived from a photo of a 2010 Japanese Shiba_Inu dog named Kabosu who was adopted by Japanese school teacher Sato Atsuko who posted a few photos of Kabosu. The memetic photo shows Kabosu making an unusual expression where she makes a sideways glance directly at the camera with raised eyebrows. Kabosu's expression is often edited into other photos or is redrawn on other characters in fan art. The misspelling of the word dog, doge, is taken from a 2005 episode of a Homestar Runner puppet show. Images are often accompanied by short fragmented English sentences with odd grammar: the first word is almost always one of five modifiers ("so", "such", "many", "much", and "very"), and the departure from correct English is to use the modifier with a word that it cannot properly modify. The meme became so popular that it even inspired a form of cryptocurrency also called Doge.
