Now Viewing: 2ne1Tag type: Copyright (íŽė ëė) A popular Korean female hip hop group that was formed in 2009 by YG Entertainment and lasted until November 25, 2016. However, CL, Dara, and Bom released one final song/music video to function as a true send-off to the group after the group's official disbandment. Their name can be read as 21 or To Anyone. They were originally named 21, but they changed their name after it was discovered that there was already an artist that went by 21. The name's spelling is also meant to combine the phrases '21st century' and 'new evolution.' It originally consisted of 4 members: CL, Bom, Dara, and Minzy, with CL acting as the group leader. Minzy, however, left the group on April 5, 2016. In contrast to most Korean girl groups, their musical style and public image are much edgier and aggressive with a stronger hip hop influence. The two older members of the group, Bom and Dara, notably had well-established careers before joining 2NE1 with Bom being a solo artist and Dara being a popular actress in the Philippines. The group debuted in with the song Lollipop, a theme for a LG Electronics commercial campaign. The groups' members are also notably multilingual and this has led to them releasing alternate versions of their Korean songs in other languages complete with different music videos. The group was influenced by Western girl groups such as Spice Girls and TLC.
