Now Viewing: shinsengumiTag type: General 新選組/新撰組 (Shinsengumi) AKA だんだら模様 (Dandara Moyou) Shinsengumi (新選組 or 新撰組) was a special police force which performed counter-terrorism in Kyoto for the Tokugawa shogunate in the late Shogunate period. They were characterized by harsh discipline and their unique uniforms. Their haori were colored light blue , and the sleeves were trimmed with white dandara moyou (mountain stripes).
