A sixteenth note, aka a semiquaver, is a musical note that is notated with an oval, filled-in note head and a straight note stem with two flags. It is played for half the duration of an eighth note (quaver). A beam is a horizontal or diagonal line used to connect multiple consecutive notes (and occasionally rests) to indicate rhythmic grouping.
