Now Viewing: pauline_(mario)Tag type: Character Refers to the Donkey_Kong_(series)/Mario_(series) character. She is a tall brown-haired adult woman who wears lipstick and a red_dress. Her original design suggested that she was blonde which was also the design that Saturday Supercade used. Her hair was colored red in her second appearance in the 1984 Pinball game. Donkey Kong 1994 redesigned her character to her current form. She is the original Mario damsel in distress/love interest and debuted in the game Donkey_Kong_(game), Mario's debut appearance. She was originally called Lady in the Japanese version of Donkey Kong. After the smash success of Super_Mario_Bros., Princess_Peach replaced Pauline's role as the damsel in distress and love interest of Mario. While Mario is canonically in love with Peach, he is still friends with Pauline. Since Donkey Kong, Pauline has mostly appeared in the Mario vs Donkey Kong spinoff series where she was brought back after a long absence from the Mario franchise. After said appearance, she disappeared from the series once again, before finally making a comeback in a main Mario game in Super_Mario_Odyssey where she is revealed to have become both the popular mayor of the New York City analogue, New Donk City, and a successful singer. This also marks the first time she has appeared in a Mario game that also has Princess Peach. She also switches from a dress to a suit with a hat for this appearance. This appearance made her more popular than she was before and from this point on, she became a more consistent recurring character in the series, appearing in spinoffs such as Mario Kart World Tour. She is played by Judy Strangis (Saturday Supercade) and Kate Higgins (Super Mario Odyssey onwards) See also: Donkey_Kong_(game) Donkey_Kong_(series) Mario_(series) Super_Mario_Bros. She is often depicted in a red evening_gown and red fedora hat with a shure_55sh microphone on a microphone stand.
