It is part of the Kamen_Rider franchise and is notably the first Kamen Rider film released direct to video. It was released on February 20, 1992. It was written by Miyashita Junichi and Onodera Jo. It stars Ishikawa Katsuhisa (also known as Ishikawa Shin), Nomura Yumi, and Ishihama Akira. The orchestral soundtrack was composed by Uzaki Ryudo, Wada Kaoru, Haketa Takefumi, and Matsura Yoshihiro. The title is a double meaning one with Shin both meaning "True" and referencing the protagonist's name. Kazamatsuri Shin is a motorcycle enthusiast who has volunteered to help his father with his research. His father, Daimon, and fellow doctor, Onizuka Giichi, are researching cures for terminal illnesses by finding ways to strengthen the human body. Shin is the latest test subject the two doctors have gone through. However, Shin starts having vivid nightmares of a bug-like monster murdering women and police officers. They are so life-like that they feel like Shin was actually there. His fear about these dreams is made worse when he hears news that there is actually a serial killer on the loose. Furthermore, Daimon begins to have doubts over the ethics of the research, but Onizuka and Daimon's superiors have no intention of stopping the project. . . This film is notable for being the darkest incarnation of the Kamen Rider franchise until Kamen Rider Amazons was released, with a tone that de-emphasizes the heroism seen in most Kamen Rider works in favor of a more tragic and horror-inspired story. Accordingly, it is more violent than most Kamen Rider works with a more grotesque design for its eponymous hero. As the film's title indicates, it was originally meant to be the start of a new Kamen Rider film franchise following Shin's adventures. While future Kamen Rider films were produced, they did not continue this one's story due to the film underperforming. In spite of this, Shin was allowed to have roles in Kamen Rider crossovers.
