It was released on February 9, 2019. It is a direct sequel to the trilogy of Code Geass compilation movies that was released in the years prior to this installment, but not a sequel to the TV series. The movies made a few minor plot tweaks that contradict the original but set up for this film. The movie functions as an alternate ending to the franchise's story. As such, be wary of spoilers when looking up information about the film The cast and crew of the original series reunited for this installment. The film takes place a year after the final Code Geass compilation film. Lelouch's final scheme, Zero Requiem, has brought about an era of unprecedented peace internationally. Lelouch's sister Nunnally has settled into her position as the just ruler of Britannia with Suzaku, pretending to be Zero, by her side. However, the peace is brought to an end when Nunnally and Suzaku are secretly captured while on a good will visit to a desert nation. The Middle East-inspired Kingdom of Zilkhstan are the primary suspects of their disappearance. Though they deny it when questioned, the kingdom's rulers have captured Nunnally and Suzaku as part of a plan to restore the kingdom's political might. The peace brought upon by the Zero Requiem effectively crippled the nation, depriving it of its greatest export, highly skilled mercenaries. Kallen Statdfeld, Shinozaki Sayoko, and Lloyd Asplund infiltrate the kingdom in order to investigate it and rescue Nunnally and Suzaku. Once there, they encounter C.C. who has been traveling with a partially revived Lelouch. Lelouch is physically alive but is a near empty shell who's completely dependent on C.C and has no memory of his past life. After being informed of what's going on, C.C. teams up with her old allies to fully revive Lelouch and stop the Kingdom of Zilkhstan's plans.
