Now Viewing: dante_(devil_may_cry)Tag type: Character The white haired (except in DMC: Devil May Cry), fearless, trash talking, nigh-invulnerable and half-human/half-demon hero of the Devil_May_Cry franchise. While his outfit is slightly different in each of his appearances in the Devil May Cry games, he always wears a red long coat and wields two guns and a large sword. Whenever he uses his guns (Ebony and Ivory), he holds both of them sideways and never needs to reload them because of his powers. He runs a demon hunting business named Devil May Cry. He is quite cocky and likes to savor each fight. In many fights he often seems to be both verbally and physically messing around with his enemies, using very showy moves to take out his enemies and seemingly allowing himself to be hit and letting his body regenerate the wound. It is even a series tradition for Dante to be impaled at one point and proceed to shrug off the wound. However, he is sufficiently powerful and skilled enough to get away with his showy antics and the few times he gets serious, usually when an enemy makes things personal for Dante, he is even deadlier. During the course of each game, he gets access to many other weapons and powers besides the guns and sword he starts out with and the walls of his shop are filled with weapons and various items collected over the course of his adventures. He is named after Dante Alighieri. His character design is inspired by the red-wearing protagonist of the science fiction action anime/manga Space Adventure Cobra and represents creator Kamiya_Hideki's idea of a cool and stylish man. Voice actor Reuben Langdon also used Roy Fokker from the Macross franchise as his inspiration for his performance as Dante in Devil May Cry 4. He is the younger and wilder twin brother of Vergil with whom he has a strained relationship with. He also knows relatively little about his legendary demon father Sparda and doesn't feel as strong a connection to him as he does to his mother Eva. He has an interest in music, his shop has musical instruments in the background as well as a jukebox. Presumably he plays them in his spare time though Dante seems perfectly happy with his choice of occupation. He also holds an impromptu concert when he gets Nevan as a weapon in Devil May Cry 3. He is popular enough to make appearances in other games like: Shin Megami_Tensei_iii_Nocturne Viewtiful_Joe Marvel_vs_Capcom_3 Project_X_Zone He was originally intended to be a guest fighter in Soul Calibur III, but he was scrapped. He is voiced by Drew Coombs (Devil May Cry 1, Viewtiful Joe), Mathew Kaminsky (Devil May Cry 2), Reuben Langdon (Devil May Cry 3-5 English dub of anime, English voice of Marvel vs Capcom 3). Langdon is the actor most closely associated with the character as he played the character the longest and his take on the character solidified Dante's general characterization. Langdon in real life also bears a strong resemblance to Dante and the role launched his voice acting career; he also did the motion capture work for the character. In Japan, he's voiced by Morikawa_Toshiyuki, and in the reboot DMC: Devil May Cry, he's voiced by Tim Philipps. He's voiced by Johnny_Yong_Bosch in the Devil May Cry Netflix series. Ironically, Bosch played Nero in the main video game series, and a big theme concerning Nero's appearances is a passing of a torch from Dante to Nero. His performance follows the template established by his costar Langdon in the video games. He is voiced by Kue Lawrence as a child in said series Other Wiki Information Last updated: 04/08/25 12:26 PM by jojosstand This entry is not locked and you can edit it as you see fit. |
